About Us

Established in 2012 through a merger, our objective is to motivate the community in Rotorua to actively participate in swimming. We are connected with Swimming Bay of Plenty (regional) and Swimming New Zealand (national) and follow their guidelines and regulations.

Swim Rotorua welcomes new members to join at any time. Whether you aim to try it out, enhance your technique, prepare for school competitions, triathlons, water polo, or aspire to compete at the Olympics/Commonwealth games, we have a program tailored to your needs.

Our coaches are deeply passionate about swimming and are dedicated to helping individuals achieve their goals. They excel at providing encouragement and support to our swimmers, pushing them beyond their comfort zones and instilling self-belief to realise their potential.

What are our core values?

– Strong team & family culture, working as one together

– Inclusiveness, all are welcome

– Inspiring enjoyment, encouragement & achievement

– Teach life skills to aid with all aspects of life

What we offer

We offer a variety of programs for individuals of all ages and skill levels, including water safety, skill development, fitness, and other water sports such as triathlon. We also provide open water and competitive swimming opportunities at both the local and national levels.

We frequently host skills clinics and club nights where we welcome families and friends to participate and learn about swimming. These events also provide a great opportunity for our club members to come together and socialize.

In addition, we organize swim camps for both junior and senior squads, club trips for swim meets, weekly Wednesday breakfast events, fundraising opportunities, and an end-of-year Christmas party.

Squads / Sessions

The program is based at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre on Tarewa Road and operates Monday to Friday, as well as Saturday mornings throughout the year. Our squads are divided into Juniors, which include the Junior Academy and Rising Stars, and Seniors, which include, Development, Endurance, Performance, Teenfit, and Masters.

Your squad placement and weekly swim frequency will be determined by your ability and goals. If you’re interested, you’re welcome to attend one of our training sessions where the coach can discuss your needs and help find a suitable session within our program for you. Your first session/trial is free of charge, so you can try us out with no obligations.
